Fresh off completing a stellar freshman campaign to begin his collegiate career, Norfolk State track & field student-athlete Premier Wynn has taken his talents to a national stage.

The Pennsauken, N.J. native competed at the 2024 USATF U20 Championships earlier this month at Hayward Field, finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles to qualify for the World Athletics U20 Championships.

Shattering his own personal record, Wynn crossed the finish line in 50.58 seconds, ahead of competitors from North Carolina State, Washington, and Wichita State. The time earned him a spot-on Team USA for the championships, taking place Aug. 26-31, 2024 in Lima, Peru.

Wynn enjoyed a spectacular opening year at the collegiate level, earning runner-up honors in the 400-meter hurdles at the MEAC Outdoor Championships. Posting a time of 50.72 in the conference meet, Wynn represented the Spartans at the NCAA Regional Preliminaries just a few weeks later.

Earlier in the season, Wynn etched himself into the Norfolk State record books as a member of the team’s 4×400 relay squad. Wynn, alongside Tafari BishopJahquan Christopher, and Vincent Bond Jr., completed the race in 3:05.57 to break a school record that stood for over 50 years.
